The thought of your first driving lesson may be quite exciting and or frightening.

Have no worries; Peter’s School of Motoring’s instructor will give you all the time you need. He will never raise his voice or expect you to remember everything the first time. It’s ok to ask; he will cover it again and again if required.

If you have never sat behind the wheel of a car your instructor will not expect you to get in and drive at the start of the first lesson. You will start on a nice quiet stretch of road and be talked through the basic controls and how to use them.

The driving school cars have dual-controls which means that your instructor can control the car in an emergency or just to help you out.

Your early lessons will concentrate on the skills of car control. Your instruction will progress at a rate suitable for you. In further lessons you will cover other subjects such as:

• Driving in different road, traffic and weather conditions
• How to switch on the cars head lights, windscreen wipers, hazard lights etc
• The emergency stop
• Turning the car in the road
• Reversing the car
• Parking the car
• Law of the highway and driving
